ENT Physician Added to HCHS Visiting Specialists List

 
Harlan County Health System is excited to welcome, ENT physician, Dr. Matt Johnson, from Kearney Regional Medical Center to our Outpatient clinic services. Dr. Patrick Auman, CEO of HCHS noted “we are very fortunate to have a physician of Dr. Johnsons’ caliber join our staff here in Alma.”
 
As an ENT physician, Dr. Johnson deals with the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the head and neck, including particularly the ears, nose, and throat. Dr. Johnson will begin seeing patients in Alma on February 24th. He is scheduled to be onsite the fourth Wednesday of every month. Appointments can be made by calling 308-928-2151 and asking for Outpatient Services. Dr. Johnson has indicated that he has no limitations on the ENT services that he provides. We encourage you to schedule an appointment to see Dr. Johnson if you experience any of the following:
 
1. Ear: hearing loss, ear infections, ear injuries, ear pain, ringing in the ears, wax removal, as well as hearing aids.
2. Nose: sinus disorders, nose bleeds, allergies, nasal injuries, in addition to nasal airway obstruction.
3. Throat: tonsillitis, hoarseness, gastroesophageal reflux disease, chronic cough, and swallowing disorders.
4. Head & Neck: masses, deep neck infections, tumors, facial trauma, thyroid nodules, and all types of skin cancers of the head or neck.
 
Matthew S. Johnson, MD joined ENT Physicians of Kearney in 2016. Dr. Johnson was born in Fort Collins, CO and grew up in Boulder, CO. He completed his undergraduate studies with a degree in Psychology and Neuroscience from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2006. He obtained his Medical Doctorate at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver, CO in 2011. While there, he obtained the Doctoring Award for “demonstrating compassion, humanity, and respect of personhood in medicine.” He completed his surgical training in Otolaryngology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE in 2016.
 
Dr. Johnson is Board Certified in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He enjoys performing the full breadth of ear, nose and throat surgery but also has special interests in endoscopic sinus surgery, pediatric otolaryngology, and facial plastic, trauma, and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Johnson initiated the Otolaryngic allergy testing and treatment services now offered at ENT Physicians of Kearney. Dr. Johnson is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Nebraska Medical Center – College of Medicine. He founded and serves as site director for the rural rotation all UNMC Otolaryngology residents now complete as a part of their advanced surgical training.
 
In attendance with Dr. Johnson, will be a PA and an Audiologist that he works closely with. The Audiologist will also be available for appointments on the same scheduled day, but will need to be referral based. Audiology is extension of the already great ENT services that will be brought to our community and they will be able to provide you with a more accurate assessment of your hearing and proactively prevent any related damage.
